Pivot
The onset of COVID 19 in 2020 brought the word pivot into the foreground in a way that was unprecedented (another word COVID forced into the headlines).
The definition as a noun means a central point, pin, or shaft on which a mechanism turns and for the verb, to turn on or as if on a pivot, to completely change the way one does something.
Creating The Listening Practice was a career pivot for me with me being the mechanism that turned decades of solely focusing on communications solutions to using my most successful tool which was listening to my clients and stakeholders to understand what they needed to communicate, to listening as the solution for those who don’t feel heard.
Pivoting is not easy, even when it feels like a continuum of the path that was already being followed. It takes focus, a passion for the solutions being offered and the determination to see it through.
What keeps me going is the knowledge that I created this business to offer solutions. I truly believe that when people find the space to be heard without judgement, they will rise to be their best selves. And when that happens, everyone wins.
