Every day is a good day

I can hear you say, “yeah right!”  LOL, I used to say that too until I attended a Jay Shetty free 5-day workshop series to reset habits.  He suggested that rather than wake up every day hoping it will be a good day, we can set the intention before getting out of bed, or better yet, the night before, that our day will be a good one.

We get to choose what we focus on, we get to choose to believe that we can control ourselves, we get to choose to pause before reacting, thereby choosing if and how we respond.

Why this train of thought? Because this week I had to choose whether to do the prescribed physiotherapy homework every day.  I had to choose if to go to the gym despite a strained pectoral muscle and a wonky (not the correct medical term) knee.  I had to choose if I should just give up on a particular health target because my numbers were off track or to double down.  I chose to double down and incorporated work on the treadmill on non-gym days.  I also chose to attend yoga and worked with the instructor to modify the moves to work around my injuries.

At the end of every day I was exhausted. Some days I slept a little longer to help my recovery as best I could even though each day had its long list of To-dos.  It’s now the end of the week and, I usually share a new blog in the first half of the week.

I did my best this week and that means that every day this week was a good day.
