Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate

For as far back as I can remember, I have easily hit the recommended 8 glasses of water per day. (Since being an adult that is, as a child I loved Tang! LOL)

Most days I would easily drink more than that 64oz of H2O and feel quite accomplished.  Imagine my shock last year when I learned that I really should be drinking half my weight in ounces!  Let’s just say that I had to increase my water intake quite a bit to meet that new goal.

I jumped right in, I purchased a 32oz water bottle so it would be easy to keep track of my intake and got used to going to the bathroom more frequently.  Some benefits of this increased hydration were noticeable after a few weeks - my hands looked younger and I lost some weight.

Another benefit I noticed only last week (almost half a year later) my face wasn’t dry and itchy!  Every year between December and March when the weather is slightly drier and cooler, around my nose and mouth would become dry to the point of being itchy and uncomfortable and no amount of moisturizing would help. Not this dry season!  And I can only attribute it to my increased water intake.

I could have ignored the new information and stuck to what I had always done. I am glad I was willing to adapt, to learn and be a little uncomfortable at first because I am now reaping a benefit that I did not anticipate.
