Affirmations, habits and resolutions
It’s the time of year that people are thinking through what they would like to accomplish whether or not they make a resolution. And this got me thinking …
I am not where I was a year ago – I left a job to build The Listening Practice; I began going to a gym rather than walking alone on a treadmill; I now remember to breathe through experiences and be fully present instead of being distracted or giving into feelings of anxiety.
And it all began with affirmations, repeated daily, refined as I meditated upon what I really wanted and gained clarity about why I wanted what I wanted. Affirming that ‘my fitness and strength are constantly improving’ and that ‘I exercise, eat well, sleep well and release all stress, toxins and negativity’ became a habit which turned into the resolve to be consistent.
We have the power this year, every day, to choose what we tell ourselves, what we repeat and what we resolve to do. Let’s choose with kindness, grace and faith.
